Dependent Care Advantage Account

All employees are eligible to participate in the dependent care advantage account. Under this plan participating employees contribute a portion of their salary on a pre-tax basis (maximum of $5000) to a flexible spending account to pay for expenses incurred for dependent care. Some bargaining units contribute additional funds to individual accounts. Generally a qualifying dependent is a person who:

  • qualifies as a dependent on your federal tax return, and
  • in the case of a family member, is a child under the age of 13, or an individual physically or mentally incapable of self care.

Health Care Spending Account

All employees who are eligible for health insurance are eligible to participate in the health care spending account. Under this plan participating employees contribute a portion of their salary on a pre-tax basis (maximum of $3000) to a flexible spending account to pay for health care expenses not reimbursed by health insurance.
