ResNet
Step 1. Your computer must have a working Ethernet network port to access ResNet services and connect to the Internet. All of the College's residential rooms have two wired Ethernet ports and the New (Commons) Apartments provide additional 802.11b wireless access. You will also need a patch cable to connect your computer to the Ethernet port in your room unless you choose to use wireless in the New Apartments. Network cards and patch cables are available at the College Bookstore.
Step 2. Setup the network connection on your computer and plug in your computer into the Ethernet port in your room using a patch cable. If you live in the New (Commons) Apartments you have have the option of using wireless which does not require a patch cable.
Step 3. Open a web browser and begin the ResNet Web Safe Access process.
In order to complete the Web Safe Access registration process you will need an activated Purchase College email account. If you have not already activated your email account please do so now by visiting the Student Services website.
Are you WIRED or WIRELESS?
You are WIRED if you live in any of the residential dormitories or apartments and will connect to the ResNet via an Ethernet port in your room using a patch cable. If you live the New (Commons) Apartments you also have the option of using WIRELESS to connect to ResNet.
