Symantec

Purchase College maintains a License Agreement with Symantec which entitles the institution to use Symantec Anti-virus Corporate Edition across the campus on institutionally owned computers. In addition to this, students, faculty,and staff of the College are also covered under this agreement (see student, faculty,and staff usage below for more details). Virus protection is very important today and Symantec Anti-virus must be installed on all institutionally owned computers across campus. Faculty and staff needing Symantec Anti-virus installed on their College computer should contact the CIS Helpdesk at (914) 251-6465 or helpdesk@purchase.edu.

Symantec Anti-virus for Students, Faculty, and Staff

Students currently enrolled and faculty or staff currently employed with the College are eligible to use same Symantec Anti-virus that the College uses on its computers free of charge. The cost of the software is already included in the College’s License Agreement with Symantec and both students, faculty,and staff are encouraged to download, install, and run Symantec Anti-virus on their personally owned computer to help keep them protected.

Note: Symantec Anti-virus is available for Microsoft Windows and the Macintosh OS. If you already have another virus protection product installed on your computer including a previous version of Symantec or Norton Anti-virus, please uninstall that sofware before installing this version of Symantec or Norton Anti-virus.

You must read Symantec's Legal Notices and the license agreement for Symantec AntiVirus before downloading the software.

You are agreeing to the terms of the agreements by downloading, installing, and running the software. You are confirming your status as a currently registered student or employee of the College. If your status as a student or employee of the College changes, you will immediately uninstall and destroy any copies of the software you have and not retain any portion of it for any purpose.
