Purchase College Wellness Committee

The Purchase College Wellness Committee coordinates the educational and outreach efforts of the WELLNESS@PURCHASE program.

The Executive Board of the Wellness Committee consists of two professional staff members:  Regina Abdou and Roey Ficaro.

The members of the Wellness Committee include faculty, staff and students from across the campus.  Members are representative of the following departments: the student body, the PSGA (Purchase Student Government Association), Campus Events and Orientation, the LEAD Center (Leadership, Education, Advocacy and Diversity Center), Residence Life, Chartwells Food Service, Health Services, the Counseling Center, Physical Education, the Interfaith Office, the Career Development Center, the School of Liberal Arts and Science, and the School of the Arts.

The Wellness Committee assesses the health and wellness needs of the campus through surveys, focus groups, and other quantifiable measurement tools, in order to create educational outreach opportunities for the students and the campus at large.

Wellness Committee  Sub-committees:

Speak Out! (against violence against women): Creates events and other outreach efforts to educate the campus community about violence against men and women, sexual assault, healthy relationships and sexual health.

Emotional Wellness:  Programs and support around issues related to emotional wellness. 

• Facilitates the administration of the CORE Survey; creates events and other outreach efforts to educate the campus community about Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Abuse and Prevention and exists as a liaison to the Westchester County AOD Abuse Prevention Consortia. 
• Supports students with mental illness, provides campus outreach and education. 

SWAP: The Spiritual Wellness Alliance at Purchase exists to create events and other outreach efforts to promote spiritual diversity and pluralistic awareness; to staff, promote and liaise with the Inter-Faith Office and campus ministers.
