2008 Season Preview

Panthers Move Forward Under Coach Kwok

Purchase, NY (Sept. 1, 2008) -- Under first year head coach Nelson Kwok, the Panthers will look to bounce back in a competitive Skyline Conference this fall.

“We expect to be in the middle of the pack, but are looking to be pleasantly surprising if we can stay healthy and mentally strong throughout the season,” Kwok explained.

Kwok cites Laura Dykas as a key returning defensive stopper on a team that will feed off of their "D." The offense will be fueled in part by sophomore outside hitter and team basher Michelle Fetky and freshmen middle hitter Olivia Hintz.

With five freshmen forming the core of the offense, it will be up to senior outside hitter Katelyn Shankey and fellow senior defensive stopper Lauren Raia to protect the ball with their young pack.

The Panthers will look to rebound from a 5-24 overall record in a season where they went only 2-7 in conference play, narrowly missing the playoffs in 2007.
