Women's Tennis
Head Coach: Peter Nestel (4th Year)
Two-time Purchase College Coach of the Year Peter Nestel returns for his fourth season at the helm this fall. Nestel has been Purchase's winningest coach the last two seasons, leading the women's swim team to a regular season title and the men's and women's tennis teams to postseason berths.
Nestel holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics with a minor in Applied Engineering and Business from SUNY Stony Brook. He is a PTR Certified Tennis Instructor and Tennis Professional, Certified Level I Coach for Triathlon, certified springboard diving coach and swimming coach.
Nestel joined Purchase following a stint at Lawrence University in Wisconsin where he was the head men’s and women’s tennis coach. He coached the women’s team to the Midwest Conference Team championships for the first time in 17 years.
Assistant Coach: Patricia Troiano (1st Year)
Patricia Troiano was named the new assistant women’s tennis coach at Purchase this fall and also holds a position as Residence Coordinator on campus. She attended Western New England College from 2001-05 and was a two-sport athlete in tennis and softball.
In 2003, Troiano and her softball teammates swept the DIII NCAA New England Regional Tournament held at Wheaton College in Massachusetts. In the process, they became the first team in the institution’s history to compete in an NCAA National Championship.
