STEP THREE: Express TAP Application (ETA)
If you are a New York State resident attending a New York State college or university and have completed your FAFSA online, you can also apply for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) online. After submitting the FAFSA information online watch for the page entitled "Submission Confirmation." Look for the "New York Resident" paragraph, which will allow you to file your TAP information online too.
If you have completed your FAFSA and were unable to complete the ETA at that time you can apply for TAP at www.tapweb.org. You will need to create a user name and PIN. This PIN is different from the Federal PIN needed to complete the FAFSA.
If you are not able to complete the TAP information online, New York State Higher Education Services Corporation will mail you an ETA application.

Helpful Tips for Step 3
- Enter Purchase College's federal code (006791) as the first school on the FAFSA. This will insure that your TAP award will be used to pay for costs at Purchase College.
- If Purchase College is not listed on your paper ETA (if you did not apply online), enter our TAP code (0970) on the application and return it to NYSHESC in the envelope provided. You can also make the TAP College Code Change online at www.hesc.com. Click on Managing your loan or grant then click on Your Account which will bring you to Change TAP College Code.
