Follow these instructions when applying to Purchase College as a Freshman Film applicant.

Note: Students who have not reached their academic potential because of limited financial resources and inadequate academic preparation should review the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at Purchase College.

Step 1: Submit your completed application
Send the completed application (after it is reviewed by your guidance counselor), a check for $40 (payable to "SUNY APC"), and your Official Transcripts to:

Step 2: Request TWO official High School transcripts or GED scores, and SAT or ACT scores. Note: One transcript is for Admissions and the other is for the Conservatory.

Step 3: Submit your essay
Students applying to the film program must complete and mail TWO copies of an autobiographical essay (1.5 pages, typewritten and single-spaced) and mail it to:

Note: This essay is a critical aspect of the initial screening process.
Your best intellectual and creative effort should be demonstrated in the essay. It might include a a description of yourself, why you want to make films, and any experience you've had that supports or prompts your choice.
Qualified candidates will be invited to Purchase for an interview - Interviews are not automatically granted to Film Program Applicants. Those who are invited should bring portfolio materials (e.g., slides, scripts, films, artwork) to the interview. Faculty members suggest that you bring two letters of recommendation (one artistic and one academic) to the interview as well.
Do not send the portfolio to the Office of Admissions.
