CONVENIENT AND AFFORDABLE
The Liberal Studies B.A. Program is designed for Westchester Community College graduates and others who would like to complete much of the required coursework for their B.A. degrees close to home in the Peekskill area at night. As a State University of New York (SUNY) campus, the tuition is attractive and affordable.  Students may choose one of two majors in the program:

  1. Liberal Studies
  2. Liberal Studies: Arts

In most cases, students may complete their B.A. degrees with two years of full-time study. Students can study on either a part-time or full-time basis. All courses are held at the Peekskill extension site, with the exception of the required Senior Capstone course, offered at the Purchase College campus in Purchase, NY.

LIBERAL STUDIES
This interdisciplinary major helps students to develop an appreciation of the questions, issues, and perspectives underlying the liberal arts, to integrate knowledge across disciplines, and to be able to apply academic learning to life pursuits. Coursework is required in a variety of areas and includes a cross-section of the humanities (e.g., history, philosophy, writing), social sciences (e.g., communications, legal studies, sociology), natural sciences (math, science, psychology), and the arts (e.g., art history, studio art, music). The flexibility of the liberal studies degree allows students to choose advanced courses that best suit their needs and interests.

LIBERAL STUDIES: ARTS
This major combines the liberal arts with the visual and performing arts, allowing students to explore their talents and interests in art history, music, film, or other studio arts while studying with accomplished faculty. Within the framework of the Liberal Studies Program, students can choose from a variety of history, production, and studio courses.

THE SUNY RELATIONSHIP
The SUNY articulation agreement between Purchase College and Westchester Community College allows you to transfer smoothly from the two-year to the four-year college. In addition, if you need to fulfill any lower-level credit requirements, you may do so at Westchester Community College and transfer them to Purchase College.

You will work closely with an advisor to maximize the application of your transfer credits toward the completion of your graduation requirements.
