How to Add, Drop, or Withdraw From a Course

You can add or drop courses without academic penalty or late fees by filing an add/drop form during the dates listed above. You can add or drop at Student Services after you have activated your Purchase e-mail account.

Before adding a course, please note that students are responsible for absences and any coursework missed during the add/drop period. Students are expected to check with the faculty member to ensure that they can make up missed work before adding a course.


Fall 2008 WITHDRAWAL PERIOD: Sept. 10–Nov. 4

To withdraw from courses without academic penalty after the add/drop period, you must formally apply for a withdrawal by filing a withdrawal form during the dates listed above.

  • If you are withdrawing from credit courses, a grade of W (withdrawal) will be entered on your transcript.
  • If you are withdrawing from noncredit courses, you must also formally withdraw, but the W grade will not be assigned.

Please note: Students who stop attending credit courses without formally withdrawing by the published deadline will receive a grade of WF, which equals an F when computing grade point averages.
