Certificate Program in Arts Management:
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I complete the certificate program in the evening?
With the exception of the Internship, all coursework can be completed in the evening. The Internship usually requires a daytime commitment of 7.5 hours per week for 15 weeks, or a total of 112.5 hours. If you are already affiliated with an arts organization, you may arrange to fulfill your internship requirements at that organization by undertaking a project outside your customary daily responsibilities.
How soon can I earn the certificate?
You can complete the required coursework in three semesters, depending on the number of courses you wish to take each term. There is no time limit by which you must complete the curriculum; most students enroll in one course each semester. The certificate is normally awarded within four weeks after the Request for Certificate is received.
Can I substitute a course completed at another college for one of the required courses?
One transfer course will be accepted toward the certificate if it is deemed equivalent to a course in the required curriculum. You must send a request for transfer of credits with an official transcript and catalog course description to the academic advisor in the School of Liberal Studies & Continuing Education. The advisor will review the course and determine equivalency.
How much does the certificate program cost?
All courses in the certificate program are credit-bearing. Therefore, you pay the regular SUNY credit tuition and fees.
