Lecturer in Cinema Studies

Description: The Cinema Studies program at Purchase College, SUNY seeks a one-year, full-time replacement for faculty on leave.   The ideal replacement will be able to mount five courses  each semester and advise students on senior projects.  The scheduled courses for Fall 2008 include are American Cinema of the 1950s (Fall 2008).  Additional electives may be in the candidate’s areas of specialization.  At least one class will serve the first year general education requirement (either College Writing or a Humanities/Western Civilization course). The qualified candidate will be A.B.D. or hold a PhD in Cinema Studies or a closely related field and be able to teach courses under the broad areas outlined above.  Some experience working closely with students on research and writing is also desirable. 

Salary: $40,000-45,000
