Commuter Lounges
Commuter Services manages the Commuter Lounge space that is open to everyone. The lounge space, located off the lobby in Campus Center North, has comfortable couches, tables, a microwave, lockers and a big screen TV with cable.
If you observe a facilities problem with the lounge, contact Commuter Services at 251.6335 or via email at commuters@purchase.edu.
There are lockers in the Commuter Lounge available for commuter students. If you would like a locker, simply put your own lock on it and complete the Locker request form. Request forms are located in the Office of Student Life (2nd floor of Campus Center North) or in the Commuter Lounge. Remember that you must update your information with Commuter Services at the end of each semester if you plan to continue using your locker.
On-campus mailboxes are available upon request for commuter students. These are an option for students who are moving frequently during the year, or for students who would like a mailing address at the College. The mailboxes are in the mailroom located on campus next to the bookstore. Mailboxes are free, and are valid until graduation.
IMPORTANT: Once you have an on-campus address, all official College mail will be sent there throughout the year.
If you would like a mailbox, contact Commuter Services at 251.6335.
Would you like to know if there are Purchase students living near you, doing the same commute or taking the same classes? Commuter Services will provide a list of students living in your towns and nearby areas. This allows commuter students to form study groups, carpools, or back-up plans. For security reasons, the list can only be sent to purchase.edu e-mail addresses. To request a list, write to commuters@purchase.edu and give your name, and the towns you would like to know about.

In addition to tangible services, the Commuter Services staff serves students individually as well. Feel free to get in touch or stop by if you are having trouble at the College, need help negotiating off-campus life, or just would like to talk things over with someone.
Commuter Services is on the 2nd floor of Campus Center North. Staff members are generally in until 6:00 pm, but appointments can be made at any time. You can also write to commuters@purchase.edu or call 251.6335.
Weather Emergency Accommodations
Commuter Services has made arrangements for emergency overnight accommodations in the Gym in case a sudden change in the weather or another emergency makes it dangerous or impossible for commuters to return home from campus.
Accommodations are simple, consisting mostly of mattresses and blankets. All motorists in the northern states are advised to keep a spare change of clothes, blankets and desired toiletries in their vehicles in case of the unexpected.
If emergency accommodations are being made available, the Weather Update line at 251.7500 will be updated with that information. The accommodations will open at 9:00 pm, and will close at 8:00 am the next day, unless the weather or other emergency continues.

Chartwells, the campus food service provider, offers a range of meal plans for commuter students. Using a meal plan of any type can save you the 8.25% sales tax that cash customers must pay, and certain deposits into meal plans qualify for bonuses. To learn more or activate your plan, stop by the More Card office in the lobby of Campus Center North (across from the Commuter Lounge).

The transportation fee paid by all students covers the cost of a campus shuttle bus that runs to the Transit Center in White Plains and to shopping areas in Rye and Port Chester. Schedule and other information is here.
All vehicles parked on campus, including those of commuter students, must have a parking permit. Permits can be obtained from Parking Services on the 1st floor of the Student Services Building. Be sure to bring your vehicle registration and More Card (student ID) when you get your permit.
All campus events hosted by the Office of Residence Life (that are not held in the residence halls), the Purchase Student Government Association, the Office of Student Life, or any student club or organization, are open to all students. This includes Pancake Madness before finals each semester, GLBTU's Fall Ball & Striptease, and the annual Culture Shock event.
Other offices that hold free events often include Recreation & Athletics, The Neuberger Museum of Art, The Performing Arts Center and Alumni Relations.
Check out the Purchase Events Calendar and the many fliers around campus for more information.
