B. Composition of Hearing Committees

A group of students, faculty and professional staff members will be identified as individuals eligible to serve as members of the Hearing Committee and Appeals Board.

1. A hearing by the Hearing Committee may be conducted by two students and one faculty or professional staff member in all cases except those arising from charges of sexual/physical aggressive/violent behavior (specifically, charge #s III.A, C.1, C.2, C.3, C.4, C.8, C.9, C10, E.1, AND F.3). This group of three will be selected from the larger pool of identified eligible to serve individuals as described above (IV.B.1). This group of three will constitute a quorum and may hear an individual case.  In all cases arising from charges of sexual/physical aggressive/violent behavior (specifically, charge #s III.A, C.1, C.2, C.3, C.4,C.8, C.9, C10, E.1, AND F.3), the Hearing Committee shall be comprised of five members, 2 of whom will be students.  This group of five will constitute a quorum and may hear an individual case.
2. The Academic Integrity Committee shall consist of the group of students, faculty, and professional staff members eligible to serve as members of the hearing committee. The Associate Dean of the College shall serve as the non- voting chair of the committee. From membership of the Committee, the Chair shall select a panel of three faculty members and two students the hearing in any given case.
3. In cases other than those arising from violation of Standards of Academic Integrity, the Appeals Board quorum will consist of one student, one faculty and one professional staff and will be selected from the identified pool of individuals eligible to serve as described above (IV.B.1). At no time will an Appeals Board member include an individual who was a member of the initial hearing body for the case for which an appeal is being considered, or as a member of a subsequent hearing committee if a request for appeal is successful.
