Purchase College Parental Notification Policy
In cases including medical emergency transports, involuntary medical leave, interim suspension, interim residence suspension, residence suspension, suspension, and/or expulsion, the Vice President for Student Affairs and Associate Provost for Integrative Learning or his/her representative may notify parents of the separation and all circumstances surrounding the separation. This parental notification will only be made for students who are listed as dependents on their parent's income tax forms.
Additionally, the Vice President for Student Affairs and Associate Provost for Integrative Learning or his/her representative may release information on any student to a parent or other appropriate individual, such as a spouse or guardian, in a health or safety emergency provided the Vice President determines that the disclosure is necessary to protect the health or safety of the student or other individuals.
Whenever possible in notification cases, the student will be first given the opportunity to call the parent him/herself from the office. In cases of students with restricted information, the notification may or may not be made depending on the individual situation and circumstances surrounding the restriction.
