Liberal Arts & Sciences

The liberal arts and sciences is a rich, disciplinary, and interdisciplinary curriculum – with extraordinary opportunities for undergraduate research, study abroad, and pre-professional preparation.

Schools of Thought
The College offers courses in the humanities and the natural and social sciences. Students can choose a major field of study centered in one of 23 academic departments, or design an interdisciplinary major that touches on several study areas and departments. Either way, you’ll benefit from:

- close, personal interaction with faculty mentors
- small class settings that challenge and inspire
- an atmosphere fueled by critical thinking, originality, and creativity

The Senior Project
Typically, students spend their first years exploring and discovering a wide variety of subjects, and much of their senior year designing, researching, creating, and producing a major work – whether it’s a full-length play, an original scientific investigation, or a research paper. The senior project is an impressive achievement that often becomes the springboard for your future career.
